Evidence of gap anisotropy in superconducting YNi2B2C using directional point-contact spectroscopy.
We present a study of the anisotropy in the superconducting energy gap in a single crystal of YNi2B2C (T(c) approximately 14.6 K) using directional point-contact spectroscopy. The superconducting energy gap at 2.7 K, when measured for I||c, is 4.5 times larger than that for I||a. The energy gaps in the two directions also have different temperature dependences. Our results support a scenario wi...
متن کاملDirect observation of the superconducting gap in phonon spectra.
We show that the superconducting energy gap 2Delta can be directly observed in phonon spectra, as predicted by recent theories. In addition, since each phonon probes the gap on only a small part of the Fermi surface, the gap anisotropy can be studied in detail. Our neutron scattering investigation of the anisotropic conventional superconductor YNi2B2C demonstrates this new application of phonon...
متن کاملTemperature Dependence of the Relaxation Time of the Superconducting Order Parameter~
We have measured the temperature dependences of Uie relaxation time of the superconducting order parameter and of the equilibrium energy gap close to the transition temperature in very clean films of aluminum. The results are onlyconsistent with the temperature and energy gap dependence predicted by Schmid and Schän. We also show that the magnitude and mean free path dependence of the electron ...
متن کاملA pr 1 99 4 Temperature dependence of the superconducting gap anisotropy in Bi
We present the first detailed data of the momentum-resolved, temperature dependence of the superconducting gap of Bi 2 Sr 2 Ca 1 Cu 2 O 8+x , complemented by similar data on the intensity of the photoemission superconducting conden-sate spectral area. The gap anisotropy between the Γ− ¯ M and Γ−X directions increases markedly with increasing temperature, contrary to what happens for conventiona...
متن کاملMagnetic anisotropy in Shiba bound states across a quantum phase transition
The exchange coupling between magnetic adsorbates and a superconducting substrate leads to Shiba states inside the superconducting energy gap and a Kondo resonance outside the gap. The exchange coupling strength determines whether the quantum many-body ground state is a Kondo singlet or a singlet of the paired superconducting quasiparticles. Here we use scanning tunnelling spectroscopy to ident...
